Infant and Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Why do babies and children need adjustments?
A child’s developing spine protects the nervous system. The nervous system coordinates every process between the brain and body. Having the nervous system free of any interference allows the body to develop and function optimally.
It is, therefore, imperative for all infants and children to be checked by a chiropractor regularly throughout their childhood to ensure peak developmental progression and immunity.
As your child continues to grow, we want to make sure they can develop properly. Subluxations (spinal misalignments) can be caused by physical aspects, stress or chemical toxins. Many are familiar with the physical trauma that young children are exposed to. They include, but not limited to, birth trauma (even a natural birthing process is traumatic on a newborn), improperly carrying your baby, excessive time in seats (car seats, bouncers, bumbos, jumpers, etc.), and the typical bumps and falls babies have during play and learning new skills (sitting, crawling, walking etc.). In older children, misalignments may come from sports, dance, texting and carrying heavy backpacks. Through chiropractic care, we can help your child feel great and function optimally so they can enjoy each year as they grow.
Are adjustment safe for infants and children?
Absolutely! The techniques used will be chosen for the specific needs of each individual child. Whether the patient is hours old, a toddler, or a teenager, there are different styles of adjusting appropriate for the developing anatomy.
Can children receive chiropractic care if they are currently on medications?
Of course! The purpose of an adjustment is not to take them off their medications, but assist them so that their bodies can work better. Although, over time they may not need to be on them. The goal of chiropractic is to support the child’s function and health so they can live life to their fullest.
